About Us
New Covenant MCC is a congregation affiliated with the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. We began as an outreach of MCC Baltimore on Easter Sunday of 1999. Then known as MCC Howard County and worshiping in Columbia, we quickly developed as a community under the leadership of the Rev. David Smith, Pastor of MCC Baltimore. In March of 2002, we became a parish extension with an independent Board of Advisors. Four months later, we called our first Pastor, the Reverend Lance Mullins, and began the credentialing process to become a fully accredited MCC congregation. On November 21, 2004, we completed that process, adopted our congregation's "official" name, and were commissioned for our mission and ministry by our Regional Elder, the Rev. Arlene Ackerman. Now worshiping in Laurel and living more fully into our call, we serve among and beyond Maryland's suburban GLBT community. Reverend Mullins has moved on to new steps in his ministry, and our transitional Pastor is the Reverend Tim Agar.
