Volunteer Roles & Tasks
At New Covenant Metropolitan Community Church, our members and friends take an active part in every worship service.
While you are certainly welcome to simply come and worship with us, if you would like to volunteer for an active role, please fill out a “Stewardship” sheet on Sunday and drop it in the offering plate. Or, just ask some Sunday, “How can I help?"
Explanation of Tasks
Assisting Minister
- Lead the Announcements and Prayers of the People
Lector
- Read the Scripture or non-bible reading for the day
Communion Server
- Assist the Pastor with distribution of the Eucharist
Exhorter
- Lead Worship and Preach
Altar Setup
- Set up the altar before Worship
Host
- Prepare narthex/sanctuary candles, collect offering, usher during Communion
Accompanist
- Play the piano
Song leaders
- The choir or other singing leaders
Board Designee
- Invitation to Stewardship, Count offering, open & close building. Must be a member of the New Covenant MCC Board of Directors
Counting Assistant
- A member who assists in counting the day’s offering
Fluff & Buff
- Help with light clean up of the church building after worship services
