Our Pastor
The Reverend Lance Mullins has a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy from Lyon College (1996), and a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary (1999). On 9 January 2000, he was ordained to the professional ministry in UFMCC.
Lance was hired as the first solo pastor of MCC Howard County, then a new parish extension of MCC Baltimore. He was called with the primary charge of equipping and empowering the lay ministers of this new and growing community. Deeply enthusiastic about serving as the Pastor of a church so full of possibility, Lance has focused the past two years of his ministry here helping the community discern its identity and leading it through the process of achieving "church status" within MCC. Now claiming a new name and on the verge of completing this important process, New Covenant MCC is a particularly exciting context for ministry!
Lance is passionate about preaching and worship, and he is always
grateful for the opportunities to help people connect their spirituality with the many other facets of their lives. He is continually interested in exploring how faith intersects with politics, sexuality, and personal ethics, and he enjoys working with other leaders to make New Covenant a welcoming and nonjudgmental community in which people can explore these connections. He has a beloved life-partner of five years, David Mellott. They live in Columbia with their canine child, Sophie.
